From Cancellino

The Cancellino – Foresta della Lama cycle path is one of the most picturesque and accessible itineraries in the Casentinesi Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna National Park. It is often considered one of the most beautiful forest trails in Italy thanks to its extraordinary landscape variety and perfectly preserved natural setting.

The route begins in Cancellino and follows a path that once housed a small railway line used for transporting timber. For this reason, the forest road is mostly flat, making it suitable for families.

The route passes through dense forests of beech, fir, and other native species. Along the way, you’ll also encounter two drinking water sources and a characteristic sulfur spring.

Continuing, you reach the Foresta della Lama, one of the most fascinating and wild areas of the park, characterized by large clearings and breathtaking natural views.

Here you can stop for a picnic, relax along the banks of the stream watching dragonflies and crayfish, or visit the small Alpine-style church overlooking the clearing.
